Shaping Our Approach to AI as a Community – IB Releases Draft AI Design Principles

The International Baccalaureate has rolled out draft AI Design Principles that seek to ensure the responsible development and application of AI within the organization’s global educational environment. Released in March 2026, the design principles center on ethics, student-oriented and inquiry-based learning and ensure the relevance of educators in all decision-making processes. Based on five key principles, which include safety, transparency and continuous improvement among others, the project is developed through a partnership between the IB and global agencies like UNESCO and OECD.

This Inclusive Excellence Report examines data across the United States and presents a clear view of student reach, school-level development, and program impact. The tone of the report is analytical, and the data has been organized in a structured format to support educators, policymakers, and stakeholders.
